Scott Hanson opens door to leaving NFL RedZone: ‘Not married to it’

Scott Hanson is “not married” to “NFL RedZone.”

The in style whiparound present host informed Outkick’s Bobby Burack this week that he’s in the midst of the second of a four-year deal with “RedZone,” but he’s not positive what will come after that.

“I love my job. I give everything I’ve got to ‘RedZone,’” Hanson said during the interview. “I hope I’ve been good for the NFL. The NFL has been good for me, but I’m not married to it. Could I go somewhere else? Sure. But we’ll talk about that when it’s time to talk about that. And if I were to go somewhere else, I would want that show or that endeavor to thrive in a way that it hasn’t ever thrived before and to serve the audience as best as anyone in a host role can possibly serve an audience.”

Hanson has hosted “RedZone” since its inaugural season on NFL Network in 2009.

Before last season, Hanson’s standing on the present was briefly in query before he announced on social media that he would return.

Earlier that offseason, Front Office Sports reported that negotiations between Hanson and “RedZone” had stalled and that he was being courted by NBC.

Hanson labored for NBC on its “GoldZone” present during the 2024 Summer Olympics and 2026 Winter Olympics.

He later said the robust negotiations with the NFL made him think his days as the “RedZone” host could be over.

“There was a time when I thought ‘I don’t know if this is going to happen,’” Hanson said on the “SI Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina” in July 2025. “It was not my intention to have it go that course. But you have to be keen for that eventuality or that risk.

“…The NFL, as they [are] wont to do, they are very tough negotiators. There was quite a knockdown drag-out negotiation, but I’m thrilled to be back. Thrilled that we were able to come to an agreement.”
