Yung Miami may be shifting ahead with her solo profession, but she’s not prepared to go away her historical past with former City Girls groupmate JT in the previous—PERIODT! The Miami rapper got candid about their fractured friendship during an Oct. 23 look on Hot 97 with Nessa, the same day she dropped her debut solo studio album, What Dis! — and revealed that she “cried” making her emotional monitor “Dear JT.”

The track finds Miami reflecting on the bond she and JT constructed lengthy before the fame, hit information and public fallout. And while their relationship may look completely different immediately, Miami made it clear that the years they spent constructing the City Girls collectively will always imply something to her.

“Just with a friend, a person that I grew up with, a person that I started this with – I’m never gonna forget when we started,” Yung Miami advised Nessa, getting emotional. “It’s how I feel right now. I don’t know how I’ll feel next year.”

Yung Miami Says She and JT Grew Apart.

The emotional monitor comes after Miami beforehand opened up about the breakdown of their friendship during an interview with Charlamagne Tha God in March. At the time, she defined that she felt the two had outgrown one another, with completely different mindsets, inventive variations and evolving approaches to music contributing to their cut up.

Miami also pointed to a noticeable “shift” in JT after she returned residence from jail in 2020, following a sentence associated to bank card fraud and identification theft. Although the former groupmates had spoken since their falling-out, Miami said their makes an attempt to work through their points typically ended with both girls “pointing the finger” at each other over previous hurts.

Now, with “Dear JT,” Miami seems prepared to put her emotions on the desk and acknowledge just how much she misses the friendship they once shared. In “Dear JT,” Miami calls for a reconciliation, rapping:

“Sh*t crazy now, our relationship ain’t what it used to be/ We supposed to been together, but I guess it ain’t meant to be/ Sis, we could’ve made history And we done grew apart, now that’s no more.”

The lyrics seize the sophisticated emotions of watching a once-unbreakable bond change, particularly when that relationship helped form both girls’s lives and careers. And rather than faux their historical past never occurred, Miami is selecting to be sincere about what the friendship still means to her.

“This Is Genuinely From My Heart.”

During her Hot 97 dialog, Miami defined that releasing the track was her method of addressing the ache surrounding their friendship and, doubtlessly, opening the door to a dialog with JT.

“This is what’s on my heart. I’m a mom. I have kids. Like I know what it’s like to lose somebody. I lost a baby dad,” Miami defined. “I lost people that was important to me. So it’s like I’m not gonna just make it seem like this never happened, this not history, we didn’t do this together. Like no, this is how I feel. This is my sister. I’m gonna put it out there. I don’t care what the world feels. I don’t know. I don’t care how they take it. This is for me,” she continued. “This is genuinely from my heart.”

Miami’s phrases counsel that this isn’t about profitable a public back-and-forth or getting the web on her facet. It’s about acknowledging a relationship that performed a main function in her life, regardless of where issues stand immediately.

When Nessa requested the hitmaker whether she had performed the track for JT before the album’s launch, Miami merely replied, “No.”

So, has she left room for JT to attain out? Absolutely.

“Do you want to hear from her?” Nessa requested.

Miami said she would welcome a dialog and hopes the alternative presents itself.

“I mean, inshallah, I put my feelings out there, and if the phone call happens, I’m gonna answer it, and we’ll go from there,” she said, including:

“People wait until it’s too late. People wait until like death or something… Like I wish I made it right… I wish I would have did it. Like sometimes it’s like if it ain’t nothing that you can’t come from, why not try to fix it? We don’t gotta be how we used to, but it don’t have to be a point to where we never speak it again. I think that life is so short.”

Could a City Girls Reunion Still Happen?

The risk of reconciliation isn’t fully new. During an Oct. 16 interview for a reside Pandora Playback session with FlyGuyDC, Miami was requested about the risk of reuniting with JT.

Around the 34:19 mark of the interview, FlyGuyDC referenced a line from Miami’s track “Watch Dis,” in which she raps, “This ain’t JT, but I’m getting money like JT.” Miami clarified that she was referring to rapper JT Money, not her former groupmate. However, when requested about the last time she spoke to JT, the “Spend Dat” artist replied, “I think it was her birthday, like, two years ago.”

The two rappers’ strained relationship grew to become particularly seen in April 2024, when they exchanged phrases publicly on X. Miami accused JT of “sneak dissing” her in her music, prompting JT to push back and accuse her former groupmate of feigning ignorance and doubtlessly envying her success. JT also instructed they meet face-to-face to hash out their variations. Although the two appeared to transfer previous that explicit trade, their friendship remained a subject of dialog among followers.

Elsewhere in her dialog with FlyGuyDC, Miami mirrored on the success of City Girls’ 2018 hit “Act Up,” describing herself and JT as “two young girls from the hood” who managed to create a “hit song.”

And when the dialog turned to whether followers might hear the former duo collectively on a monitor again, Miami left the risk open.

“I mean, inshallah,” she replied.

For now, there are no ensures that the City Girls will reunite or that Miami and JT will get their friendship back on monitor. But between “Dear JT” and Miami’s willingness to reply the cellphone if her former bestie calls, it seems the door isn’t fully closed.

Fans Are Rooting for the Friendship

Unsurprisingly, Miami’s weak lyrics and candid feedback have sparked conversations among followers, with many applauding her willingness to acknowledge the friendship rather than let delight have the closing say.

One fan on X wrote:

“Aw wait this lowkey so cute, yes we fight for guys everyday why wouldn’t we fight for the friends we care about!!!!”

Another shared their support for Miami’s honesty:

“I love this tbh. This is maturity, vulnerability and living in your truth. No matter what happens she isn’t holding on to the pain. God bless.”

And one fan was already wanting forward to what could occur next, asking:

“Is there room on the table for a reunion?”

Whether that reunion means a heartfelt dialog, a renewed friendship or another City Girls document stays to be seen. But Yung Miami has made one factor clear: the bond she and JT constructed isn’t something she can merely erase, and she seems prepared to discover her method back to her good friend. We’re praying for these two!
